Child Safety Policy

Asbury UMC follows a specific child safety policy known as Safe Sanctuaries.  The basic tenets of Safe Sanctuaries includes the following:

• Background checks – All paid or volunteer workers with children and youth must have criminal background checks
• Six Month waiting period –  no volunteers may work with children or youth until they have been involved in the church for at least six months
• Two adult policy – Any group of children or youth must have two, unrelated adults with them at all times
• High Visibility – All rooms used for programming must have windows in doors or walls for public visibility
